Kangra, a small district in Himachal Pradesh, is not a place one would usually associate with Durga Pooja. Yet, over the last 13 years, Durga Pooja has been a regular feature at Sai Mandir, old Kangra. What started as a small celebration now attracts devotees from all parts of the world.
The festival is a ten day celebration that invokes and venerates the Universal Divine Mother (Durga). It is a symbol of good vanquishing evil. Over those ten days, some of the highlights include traditional rituals (such as poojas, Chandi Havan), traditional dancing (Dhunuchi) and free meals for those who visit.

Sairam. Sharad Navarathri is an especially auspicous event in the Shivanadam calendar. Since 2006, Babaji( Sri Shivananda) has single-handedly crafted Maa Durga statues, for every Durga Pooja. He painstakingly carves, colors and decorates the statues himself with an attention to detail that is difficult to imagine.
This year, Babaji started the idol preparation activities from 05 September.
