There are two temples in the same premises - one for Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba (Sai Mandir) and one for Mahishasuramardhini Maa Durga, both built by Sri Shivananda at his residence 'Shivanandam Nivas' in Kangra.
In 2005, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's presence was strongly felt in Vishwaguru Sri Shivananda's Kangra home and Mandir (Temple). A lot of miracles and manifestations were witnessed there. The name Sri Shivananda was given by Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba. The temple is home to various annual celebrations such as Swami’s(Sathya Sai Baba’s) Birthday, Shivarathri, Navrathri, Deepavali etc apart from the daily performances of Puja with bhajans and arti.
The Sai Mandir is open every day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Mahishasuramardini Mandir is open on every full moon day (Poornima) and on special days like Navarathri, when Durga Pooja is conducted for 10 days as per Bengal Traditions. Sri Shivananda creates Maa Durga’s statues himself for the Pooja, decorated with full shola shringar. We also get to witness His Dhunuchi dance(associated with Durga worship) during the festival and Visarjan(immersion of Maa’s statue) on the final day.
