| Babaji's Birthday Discourse September 2022 |

Om Namah Shambhave. Om Namah Shivaya.

Today I have received the love of all of you and the birthday wishes that you have conveyed to me with belief and love, the prayers and worship that you have done from your home, Babaji accepts them and sending lots of blessings and love to all of you. Like always you all have celebrated this day with lots of happiness, love and belief. For that I send you lots of love and blessings.

Birthday means the day when we were born. Before I say my words I would like to mention that I will be speaking in Hindi and later it will be translated and put in Babaji Samaaj as soon as possible. This is because when the translation is done in-between, the words can go here and there so in order to speak in a flow I had decided to get it translated later so that I can talk in a continuous manner.

Why do we celebrate our birthday?

We celebrate the day when we are born but when we talk from a spiritual point of view, the day we understand the meaning of our birth, the day we understand the reason behind our birth, is the day that conveys the true meaning of our birthday. This is because whatever work is being done by an individual there exists a purpose behind every piece of work. It is not important that after taking birth you should only live a spiritual life or know about God or know about yourself even though all of those tasks are correct to do. But whatever work you do (you can be a good doctor, engineer, teacher whatever work that God has given to you to do), it should be done with full satisfaction, with dedication from both body and heart, with an understanding that it is a blessing from God, and with full acceptance one should move forward. Because, whatever work we do, however we do, there exists some reason behind that work. So when we accept the work that has been given to us and move forward, we begin to experience ourselves in that work.

Where does a human being get confused?

For example, a cook is preparing food but while working his focus also lies somewhere else like cleaning the house, going to market etc. Hence, he would never be able to enjoy the work that he is doing at the present moment. This means that whatever work we are doing, however we are doing it, at whatever moment we are doing it, we should be fully satisfied and fully present.  So when we cook food our full focus should be on cooking. Or when we are sitting in the temple, or reading a book we should keep our mind in that moment as much as possible so that we can see our present.

What is the meaning behind remaining in the present moment?

It means that whatever we are doing or whatever condition we are in, we should keep our mind in that moment with a hundred percent concentration.  Only then can we make ourselves satisfied.

You are listening to my words; I am speaking my words to you. We have a relationship because you trust Babaji and you love Him. Several people have a desire to understand the reason behind their birth. When I talk about meditation, there are several people who hear it and desire that they also get the same experience from meditation that Babaji has experienced. You feel that whatever experiences other Gurus or anyone who has walked on a spiritual path has experienced, you also want to experience that. I talk daily to you regarding something. I daily put my words in front of you by writing them but I want to tell you that you never catch my words or statements because if you catch my words you will be entrapped in me. You don’t have to catch my words. Any Guru who is teaching you, who is showing you the path to move ahead, you do not have to catch her/his words but the actions have to be.

Durga Puja is arriving. Like every year, this year as well, Durga Puja will be celebrated. I also invite all of you to the Durga Puja and I welcome you from my heart. It will be celebrated from October 1st to 5th. Ma will be immersed on the 5th. Every year this festival is celebrated in Kangra with lots of pomp and joy. A lot of people know about this. You must have seen when Ma arrives on the day of Durga Puja, Aarti commences and after that people dance. I hold dhuni in my hand and do dhunuchi dance. It’s a small thing, but why do we dance in front of God, why do we have to hold dhuni and dance in front of God.

I would like to tell a story about Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Every evening, He would dance in front of Ma and utter “Kali, Kali”. When Swami Vivekananda saw Him for the first time, he found it unusual and thought that what kind of devotion was this, why does He have to dance with so much engrossment in front of people. When you merge with that Shakti, you don’t remain yourself. Man fears what the world thinks about him. You can either call this dance a mad affair or spinning in ecstasy. I did not know much about dhunuchi but I had seen the videos related to it where people danced in front of Ma. I also picked up dhuni, paid my obeisance to Ma and spoke to her, “Who am I to dance in front of You, just let me dance in Your love”. My feet began to move themselves. I dance a lot during these five days. I don’t dance to make Ma happy or to make people see me or talk about me. Such thoughts have left me. I dance because I feel joy in that dancing. And when I am in joy or when my heart is happy at that time, my Ma is happy.

It is important to think, people must be thinking that after a period of six months Babaji has spoken. There is a reason behind why I do not talk. I write and put something everyday in Babaji Samaaj. As I said, you don’t have to catch those words. You have to go beyond those words without catching them. I wonder if you would also like to dance the same way I dance. Lots of people come to me for Durga Puja. People ask what we should do for our Guru. It is not that by dancing or by doing something specific, you are doing something for your Guru. You can accept anyone as your Guru, whoever touches your soul. You just have to follow His footsteps, how He walks, how He talks, what He teaches, think about all those little things.

Why do we go to a guru?

Because we need something from Him, something big, something which we are not getting from this world, from family, from friends, from relatives. We need something that only a Guru can give us. But we have been with our Guru for so many years and we have not been able to receive what we really desire. That after some years, we can say to our Guru that despite walking with you we have received nothing. Because the words that the Guru spoke to you, you caught those words. You caught them, pondered over them and when you could not understand them, you left them and you moved forward because you could not receive anything from those words. But you only had to catch the actions and not the words.

I am not asking you to dance or do something specific but if you want something in life, even if it’s moving ahead in the path of meditation, I am not talking to you these days because I am waiting to see that seriousness in you. No one in these seventeen years has come to me and said, Babaji the way You dance in front of Ma, the way You dance in that fun and joy, in that way I also want to dance, I also want to reach towards that light, I also want to win that joy, I also want to be in that state where feet begin to move themselves. I wait for someone to come to me and say that during this Durga Puja (or any other occasion) that we have been waiting for a year for this moment and we want to feel that sentiment which you feel during this occasion. Have you ever tried saying this?

There are several things like this. I talk to you about meditation, about karma, about life, about concentration, about walking on one path, about becoming one string because you can listen to the entire song of life in that one string. Why am I telling you such things ? Because I don’t want you to stay unaware of that sentiment, that spiritual joy for which you have come to me and I don’t want you to stay unaware of it. I won’t benefit from you walking on a singular path because guru gains nothing from even one word that he speaks. There is neither gain nor loss in the relationship between Guru and disciple, God and devotee, such is this relationship. There exists only a direction.

I used to give satsang a lot of times. After it would end, I receive personal messages regarding the words I have spoken being incorrect or my manner of teaching is wrong. Think yourself, When you sit in front of a Guru and listen to His words. Before you speak, you very beautifully put forward that you pay hundreds of pranams to my feet, that if I don’t mind I would like to speak something to You. This is your ego. When you can tell a Guru that you would like to correct his words, this means that you know more than guru but the point here is not about knowing. Here the point is about understanding, about knowing the meaning of words, about what Babaji wants to tell you.

There is a reason behind taking birth, mine as well as yours. The sole reason behind my birth is to give you what I have received and behind your birth is to eat correctly what has been served to you. It is better to eat what guru is making you eat, what guru has served you. Focus on what has been served on your plate because if you want to receive happiness in life then you need to remove focus from others and focus on only your plate and on that which has been given to you. Take a little bit seriously what your guru wants to tell you. I am not far from you. Closeness and distances are small questions, insignificant things. This only depends on our understanding of how much I am able to understand of my guru’s words. There is no distance between you and I. But you have to understand this distance between us and if you are feeling this separation, then why you are feeling it. You think that our babaji has left giving satsangs, he has forgotten how to talk. That’s not true. The only reason is that you have stopped listening, understanding. When you stop listening and understanding, then the words of someone speaking to you become insignificant.

Today I only want to tell you one little thing, even though there is a lot to say, there are an infinite number of topics. You have limitless questions to ask and limitless answers to give. But today I only want to tell one thing, you have to understand the reason behind your Babaji’s birth because he has understood the reason behind his birth. Several people have come to babaji to give their love and faith to babaji. So you have to understand the reason behind your birth and this shall be the biggest gift for me from your side, given with love because I only love you. Why, when and how I love you, this is neither a topic to discuss nor a question to be asked. I only love you and I give you lots of love and blessings. I accept your love on my birthday from my heart and I give you blessings and soon we will restart the satsangs. You show me your seriousness. Listen and understand what babaji tells you, that’s my biggest gift. Babaji is not away from you, these are just your heart’s doubts. Leave them and feel babaji in your heart because I feel you all the time in my heart.
