Every year, Babaji creates Maa Durga’s statue along with her family (namely Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, Karthikeya) himself, for the Durga pooja celebrations. The last 5 days of Navarathri are celebrated with auspicious rites and mantra japam at Shivanandam Nivas, Kangra. A Bengali Pundit from West Bengal conducts the Puja in a traditional Kolkata style. The celebration encompasses all the traditional rituals (Aarti, Dhoop etc), Dhaak (the drum instrument associated with the festival), the Dhunuchi (a pot with fragrant smoke) dance performed by Babaji himself, and concludes with the visarjan (immersion of all the idols) on the final day in the local river Bhaner (Bener).
