*“Kailash”*
I have already told you about Lake Mansarovar and Rakshas Tal, but there are still some more important things to know about Rakshas Tal! Come, let us read further.
Rakshas Tal is the place where Ravana performed his penance. I will narrate that story to you in detail later, but first, let me tell you a few more things related to this lake.

### *“The Water of Rakshas Tal Is Poisonous”*
No fish are seen in Rakshas Tal, nor are there any plants growing around it.
Even though it lies at the same altitude and in similar conditions as Lake Mansarovar, that lake is full of fish and vegetation, while Rakshas Tal remains barren.
It is said that if anyone takes a bath in Rakshas Tal, they may become seriously ill, and in some cases, it may even lead to death. Drinking the water of this lake is strictly prohibited.
Keeping all this in mind, the Chinese government has built boundaries around the lake and does not allow people to go near it or enter the water.

### *“What Is Rakshas Tal Associated With?”*
In Hinduism, as well as in many other religions, Rakshas Tal is seen as a symbol of impurity, negativity, and darkness.
This lake is also associated with Ravana and the moon.
Travelers who have visited the area have shared that they felt a sense of negativity when they approached the lake. According to religious beliefs, this lake is considered the dwelling place of demons (asuras).
There are countless beliefs and stories related to this place.
But the penance of Ravana and the divine play of Lord Shiva are truly worth knowing. I will narrate that to you next… To be continued!
