*“Ashram”*
Our Bhola had fallen ill. Whatever we gave him to eat, he would vomit it out. We decided to take him ahead in the car because a bigger town was coming up, and surely we would find some doctor there. With that thought, we sent him ahead; my children took him with them. They did find a doctor, and he said that Bhola had a virus because of which he wouldn’t be able to eat anything for at least five days. He would have to be kept only on a drip.
They put him on a drip and brought him back to where we were staying. All of us were very sad that day. Even staying in one place for five days was difficult for us. Now this was another new test from God. That night, I called everyone I knew in that direction. Our whole group began searching for an NGO. We were sure someone would help us. And that’s exactly what happened — we found an NGO in Dehradun, and we spoke to them.
They assured us they would take full care of Bhola. But we would have to send Bhola back with them. Since we had told them the entire story, they came at 2 a.m. that night and took Bhola with them. Every day we received Bhola’s photos and videos. Bhola was slowly getting better, and this brought joy to all our faces. Time passed. We returned from Kedarnath and reached Dehradun. One of our luggage trucks was heading back to Kangra, so Bhola could comfortably go in it. But the foreign woman who ran the NGO refused to return Bhola to us! She got angry, saying that we would take him on the journey again. She just couldn’t understand us. She thought we had forcibly taken a child with us. I don’t know why she thought that. The truck left without him. But I was anyway staying in Dehradun for two or three more days.
We tried to persuade her, but she didn’t return our Bhola. With a heavy heart, I left for Kangra. And shortly after going some distance, I got a phone call — now they were saying: “Come and take your child back.” I couldn’t understand anything. What was happening now? First they didn’t give him, and now they wanted us to take him back. But I had already gone very far from there. So then I…
