*“Ashram”*

After Bhola passed away, we gave him a place on the ashram land. He could not reach the Dharmkot Ashram in life, but with his own hands he planted a sapling there—one that is slowly growing even today. After he left, the Dharmkot Ashram also came to us! We didn’t even realize how all the paths opened on their own. It was a miracle that words can never fully express.

When I think of Bhola, he was just a child, yet what he gave by simply coming into our lives felt impossible. He came, he gave us the opportunity to serve—and after giving that, he left. Sometimes we ask God for something, and often it is not written in our fate. But if our intentions are pure and our thoughts good, then God Himself comes to write that blessing into our destiny. Many times He gives us an opportunity to serve—He makes us serve—and through the fruits of that service, He grants what we had never even imagined. That is why, when life gives you a chance to serve, accept it as God’s divine play. Because service never takes anything from us—it always comes to give something.

The meaning of service is to receive—to gain what is not in our destiny. So never be afraid of service. Service does not mean money. Service means your intention. Service means the bowing down of your ego. Where the feelings of “I” and “mine” remain, the meaning of service ends. So Bhola gave us the opportunity to serve for a few days—and in return, the name “Ashram” was written. He was no ordinary child.

Before signing the Dharmkot papers, I had told the owner, “You will have to give us this land within seven years.” But this land came walking to us in just one year. All my life I wonder what I could ever offer to those who held Babaji’s hand and brought this ashram to us. This was God’s resolve, and it was fulfilled. Now, we have an ashram in Dharmkot! It will begin functioning in a few days. Work is still going on. It will be opened for meditation, yoga, satsang, kirtan, and other spiritual activities.

Just sitting in that place feels like meditation. Set in the lap of nature, that ashram is a symbol of peace. Devotees who come there will get an opportunity to connect with themselves. The weather there is always cool, and in winters it snows beautifully. I will personally teach meditation to my children there. Very close to the ashram, just a small walk away, there is a beautiful market. The entire area is filled with people from many Indian states and foreign countries. The liveliness of that place is unique. There are many trekking routes that lead toward the Himalayas, and nearby is also the home of the Dalai Lama. Sitting there and learning yoga will be a life-giving experience. And all this became possible through God’s resolve. What I saw was just a small dream—but God made it into something extraordinarily beautiful.
