Before beginning the Kailash pilgrimage, I want to share with all of you some things connected to Kailash! People have joined the journey to Kailash, but it is equally important to understand its significance. Because it is very essential to have complete knowledge about the place you are going to. Only then can you truly experience that place!
So, along with this pilgrimage, let us also read some beautiful truths connected to Kailash!
Situated in the remote western region of Tibet, Mount Kailash is a center of mysteries. Sacred to many religions and filled with ancient legends, this grand peak hides a treasure of secrets that still await discovery—and perhaps may never be fully understood! Because this is no ordinary Himalayan mountain. There are fifteen mysteries associated with it, which I will tell you about! They are as follows:
1. Mount Kailash is known by many names in different languages and religions.
2. In Tibetan Buddhism, Mount Kailash is the center of the universe.
3. In Hinduism, Mount Kailash is the home of Lord Shiva.
4. Mount Kailash is considered the bridge between Earth and Heaven.
5. The face of Lord Shiva is believed to be present on Mount Kailash.
6. Mount Kailash is an isolated peak located in remote western Tibet.
7. The peak of Mount Kailash is shaped like a man-made pyramid.
8. The snow on Mount Kailash never melts.
9. It is impossible to climb Mount Kailash.
10. Mount Kailash purifies the soul and leads toward spiritual liberation.
11. The Kailash region has very little wildlife.
12. Mount Kailash is the source of four great rivers of Asia.
13. Mount Kailash is associated with the mythical city of Shambhala.
14. Mount Kailash is considered the central axis of the world.
15. At sunset, the symbols of Swastika and Om can be seen on Mount Kailash.

In Sanskrit, it is called Kailāsa, possibly derived from “Kelāsa,” meaning “crystal.”
In Tibetan, it is known as Gang Rinpoche, meaning “Precious Jewel of Snow.”
This sacred peak carries many interpretations: Tibetan Buddhists call it Kangri Rinpoche; Bon scriptures refer to it with names like “Water Blossom” and “Mountain of Sea Water”; and Hindus regard it as the abode of Lord Shiva.
Locally, it is called Tise Mountain, the origin of mythical rivers.

In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, it is seen as the holiest place—a divine sanctuary from where creation itself began.
