“Kailash”


No matter how much one writes about the glory of Kailash, it always falls short. We have seen how, when God becomes angry with His devotee, He can shake a person’s very soul; yet when He is pleased by a devotee’s love, He gives everything. He bestows such boundless grace that it has no end. What a devotee cannot even imagine, God—an ocean of compassion—can grant.


This story of Ravana and Lord Shiva tells us and teaches us that receiving God’s grace may be easy, but preserving and handling it is just as difficult. After giving Ravana the Chandrahas sword, Lord Shiva asked him to ask for another boon. Ravana then requested that the Lord accompany him. Fulfilling Ravana’s wish, Lord Shiva gave him the Atma Linga. Now we know what the Atma Linga is.


“What is the Atma Linga?”


The Atma Linga (or Atma-Lingam) is an extremely sacred and divine Linga of Lord Shiva. The word “Atma” means the essence or life force of the self; thus, it symbolizes Shiva’s own power and consciousness. It is even more powerful than an ordinary Shiva Linga. By personally giving the Atma Linga to Ravana, Lord Shiva blessed his life—yet what divine play the Lord intended through Ravana is known only to Him.


The Atma Linga is a symbol of the unity of God and the soul, showing that the Supreme (Shiva) and the individual soul are not separate. When a seeker recognizes the consciousness within, that itself is the experience of the Atma Linga—its true दर्शन (realization). Going beyond external worship, the Atma Linga inspires us to खोज (seek) Shiva within ourselves. It is a rare and immensely powerful grace of Lord Shiva.


Ravana receiving the Atma Linga shows that God is pleased by true penance, regardless of a devotee’s nature. Ravana did receive the Atma Linga, but due to ego, he could not fully benefit from it. Devotion without humility is incomplete. The Atma Linga becoming bound to the earth signifies that truth and the Supreme reality remain steadfast in one place; they do not wander.


Atma Linga = Shiva residing within the soul = the realization of the Supreme Truth!!

Ninguna cantidad de elogios para Kailash es suficiente. Hemos visto cómo Dios, cuando se enoja con sus devotos, conmueve incluso el alma de una persona. Sin embargo, complacido con su amor, lo concede todo. Derrama tanta gracia que no tiene fin. Sus devotos ni siquiera pueden imaginarlo, pero Dios es un océano de misericordia. Esta historia de Ravana y el Señor Shiva nos dice, y nos enseña, que la gracia de Dios puede ser fácil de obtener, pero igualmente difícil de mantener. Después de darle a Ravana la espada Chandrahas, Dios le pidió que pidiera otra bendición. Ravana insistió en llevarse al Señor con él. Entonces, cumpliendo el deseo de Ravana, el Señor le dio el Atmalinga. ¡Ahora sabremos qué es un Atmalinga!

“¿Qué es un Atmalinga?”

El Atmalinga (o Atma-Linga) es un lingam sumamente sagrado y divino del Señor Shiva. "Atma" significa la propia esencia/fuerza vital, lo que significa que simboliza el poder y la conciencia de Shiva. ¡Es incluso más poderoso que un Shivalinga común! El mismo Señor Shiva bendijo la vida de Ravana al otorgarle este Atmalinga, pero solo Dios sabía qué obra divina estaba a punto de realizar el Señor a través de Ravana. Simbolizando la unidad de Dios y el alma, el Atmalinga demuestra que el Ser Supremo (Shiva) y el alma son inseparables. Cuando un buscador reconoce su conciencia interior, alcanza el Atmalinga. ¡Esa es la visión del Atmalinga! Más allá de la adoración externa, el Atmalinga nos inspira a descubrir a Shiva en nuestro interior. ¡El Atmalinga es una bendición extremadamente poderosa y excepcional del Señor Shiva!

La adquisición del Atmalinga por parte de Ravana demuestra que la verdadera penitencia agrada a Dios, independientemente de la naturaleza del devoto. Ravana recibió el Atmalinga, pero debido a su ego, no pudo beneficiarse plenamente de él. La devoción es incompleta sin humildad. La conexión del Atmalinga con la tierra demuestra que la verdad y el Ser Supremo permanecen fijos en un solo lugar y no vagan.

Atmalinga = Shiva situado en el alma = ¡experiencia de la Verdad Suprema!
