| Samanatha or Equanimity |

Imagine there is a wealthy person, and a poor person meets him. The poor person will definitely respect the wealthy person. Similarly, when one meets a person with great knowledge, one shrinks before this knowledge and accepts the other person is bigger. But when one sees someone smaller or lower than himself, the same person will become arrogant and say – you know nothing, I know more than you.

For equanimity, for Oneness, one can always try and work. It is difficult in these times for even Avatars to attain equanimity because one needs to first surrender(Juhkna). For equanimity, the ‘ego’ needs to be killed. For a person to become a hero, he needs to become a zero first. I.e. he needs to remove his ‘ego’ completely. If he can become a zero, then he will definitely become a zero. And this does not happen all of a sudden. So, to become balanced, it is absolutely necessary to sacrifice your ego.

What is pride or arrogance and what is self-confidence?
There is a difference between both of them. We are all here and let’s say I have a task that needs to be done. And I am aware that you don’t know how to do this. And I say – I know how to do this and let us do this together. I can tell you how to do this. This is ‘self-confidence’, I believe that I can teach you and I believe you have the ability to learn. I can help you and together we can complete the task. This is self-confidence, yes I can, yes we can! On the other hand, if I say only I can do this job, you cannot do it, you don’t know anything about this, how will you do it? This is arrogance, only I can do it.

This arrogance, needs to be killed, removed, the ‘I’ needs to be removed. ‘I’ am nothing, I am zero. Before one can become spiritual, the ‘I’ needs to be ended. Because one can only become spiritual when one surrenders, one accepts guidance.

People ask – who is your Guru? Your Guru is your practical life. Your life teaches you everything, shows you everything. Follow it, make it your Guru. That is your Guru.

There are many things one does not know, many things about which one is ignorant, what does one do, is this the right path or the wrong one? At these times, one seeks a Guru, beseech him what should I do, please advise me, guide me. But before seeking a Guru, before that try to understand yourself. When you understand yourself, only then you can understand others.

So to bring ‘equanimity’ or balance or Oneness, the ‘ego’ needs to be removed and when the ego is gone, ‘equanimity’ dawns by itself. Without removing ‘ego’, it is impossible!
