There is one such pilgrimage center in the district of Rudraprayag known as “Trijuginarayan Mandir”. This temple is famous and popular. Trijuginarayan temple of Uttarakhand is that sacred and exclusive Puranic temple, and a very important one among prominent places in Rudraprayag. This temple located in the midst of some very beautiful valleys of Uttarakhand is extremely attractive to behold. Surrounded by greenery on all four sides, this temple braids together an atmosphere of peace and harmony for all devotees and pilgrims. This beautiful temple of Trijuginarayan is a place that bestows peace upon the eyes and hearts of all its devotees and pilgrims. This temple was established in Treta Yug, whereas Badrinath and Kedarnath temples were established in Dwapar Yug.

Trijuginarayan temple is that very special place where Lord Shiva & Mother Parvati’s auspicious wedding ceremony was conducted, at this very spot. Lord Vishnu performed the Kanyadan – giving away ceremony of the daughter as bride. It is for this reason that the temple is dedicated to Lord Narayan.

There is a fire inside the temple that has been burning since ages and continues to burn incessantly. Lord Shiva & Devi Parvati entered into wedlock in the presence of this sacred fire as their witness, by circumambulating it 7 times. This fire has been burning for over a few eras now and therefore, it has been called as “Trijugi”, meaning, “the fire that has been burning for 3 Yugas or Eras”.
